Welcome to Wrestling Australia

Wrestling Australia Inc is the Peak Australian (National) Sporting Organisation for the Olympic sport of wrestling in Australia.

We exist to develop wrestling in Australia, including Freestyle, Women’s and Greco-Roman Wrestling as well as the non-Olympic Beach Wrestling and SOMBO and Indigenous styles of Wrestling.

The associations role is to encourage and develop the widest participation and highest proficiency in the sport of Olympic Wrestling within Australia.

Through the development of coaches and officials,the association provides leadership to the sport and enables the states of Australia the ability to coordinate programs and activities.

Athletes are being warned about the prohibited substance Higenamine, following a flood of positive tests stemming from popular dietary supplements.

More information in regards to the prohibited substance can be found here.

All athletes are encouraged to read the information and to make themselves aware of the substance.

2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG)

This event will be held in Ashgabat between the 17th-27th September 2017.  Wrestling Australia is pleased to announce that the following six athletes have been selected to represent Australia at the AIMAG:

 2017 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships

The 2017 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships will take place from the 14th to the 17th of December 2017 at the Carnival City  Big Top Arena in Brakpan, South Africa.

The international counties invited to participate are from all Commonwealth nations, and include international wrestling giants such as Canada, Great Britain, India, Pakistan, Wales, Australia, New Zealand and Nigeria.

Other International federations have already indicated their interest, as this event is used by most international federations and national sport regulating bodies to qualify their participants for the quadrennial 2018 Commonwealth Games to be hosted in Gold Coast, in April 2018


2018 Commonwealth Games

Selection Event- Wrestling Australia has informed the state association that the selection event for the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be held on the 25th November, 2017.
